Oman Airports signs a memorandum of understanding with Microsoft to promote Airport digital-transformation

Oman Airports signed a memorandum of understanding with Microsoft to explore the different opportunities in the context of digital transformation & innovation for Oman Airports within the airport facility. The purpose of the MoU is to set Oman Airports as a hub of technology innovation in the region. the MoU was signed by Dr. Moaman bin Mohammed Al Busaidi, Chief Information Officer on behalf of Oman Airports and Shaikh Saif bin Hilal Al Hosni, Microsoft’s GM for Oman & Bahrain.

On the other hand, Dr. Moaman Al Busaidi, Chief Information Officer at Oman Airports, highlighted that this MoU comes as a boost to Oman Airports’ efforts as a center of digital- transformation in the region. This comes in parallel with the strategic objectives of the Oman Aviation Group and the overall strategic plans of the Sultanate in order to be as a benchmark in this field within the region. He said: “Signing of this MoU is an interpretation to Oman Airport’s vision and a promotion to its role as a leading entity in the digital-transformation to make Oman a regional and international hub in technology.

It is worth mentioning that Oman Airport has applied many new smart technologies in the new Muscat International Airport such as the Airport Robotics, activation of passenger flow management that measures the number of travelers entering the building to achieve a better resource allocation and trialing the biometric technologies (e.g. facial recognition). These additions are accurate measurement tools that will ensure a great passenger experience and operational excellence.
